Hello, I’m Harrison

Nice to meet you!

I play tenor, alto and soprano saxophone with other jazz musicians in and around Gualala, California and I create art and designs—which I’m told remind people of the music I play.

Press Release

“Goldberg’s Variations” CD Release Event at The Sea Ranch Lodge in November

Gualala resident, Harrison Goldberg, is proud to announce the upcoming release of “Goldberg’s Variations,” a 2-CD retrospective album featuring 25 years of his recorded musical history in collaboration with the members of local musical groups BAKU, Chateaux Pax, Cloudfire, duo’Xplore, Early Leaves, Ellipsis, Neon Egypt, and Pacific Woods. What makes this project unique is the eight bands improvising music while composing on the fly, listening, respecting the silences, and collaborating. The compilation features 29 tracks with a running time of 145 minutes.

In case you were wondering, this is not related to “The Goldberg Variations,” composed by J.S. Bach and first performed by young virtuoso Johann Goldberg. Neither is it a traditional jazz album, even though many people are familiar with Harrison’s jazz performances through the years at The Sea Ranch Lodge and elsewhere throughout Mendonoma.

This is the saxophonist’s manifesto, his personal commitment to sharing his love of improvised music with humanity. The album features many instruments that you won’t hear on a straight-ahead jazz album – including Shendai Ceremonial Drums, didjeridu, Native American and bansuri flutes, oud, dulcimer, kora and many more.
