On Saturday, November 08, from 6:00-8:15 p.m., Trio Boho will present an evening of jazz and spoken word at Shindig Social Club on The Sea Ranch.
The group features acoustic guitarist Tim Mueller, Ted Berman on Celtic harp with spoken word artist, Harrison Goldberg.
Trio Boho’s entertaining performance will pair Mueller and Berman’s improvisations with Goldberg’s word artistry that riffs with wit and wisdom on themes and scenes near and dear to him from a decades-long career as a performing jazz saxophonist.
Never one to shy away from collaborating with unique musical instruments and their players, Goldberg, after being introduced to Ted Berman, was intrigued with the idea of adding his poetic voice to the scintillating and ethereal sounds of the Celtic harp.
Music has always been central to Ted Berman’s life. He has played a variety of musical instruments, starting with the piano, then many years of playing trombone and guitar. His claim to fame on the trombone was playing 1st trombone in the Hollywood High School production of
“Kiss Me Kate.”
In the Summer of 2023, while doing a home exchange in The Hague, Netherlands, Ted had a serendipitous encounter with a Celtic harp, the instrument he has found to be “the most satisfying and exciting of all.” In order to create his unique sound, Ted has “woven 60 years of playing the guitar into an unique and personal style of playing the harp.”
Longtime Coast residents Harrison Goldberg and Tim Mueller have performed together in a variety of ensembles, most notably as duo’Xplore. During the pandemic they recorded and subsequently released their cutting-edge album, “Dream Smuggler,” that pairs Goldberg’s three saxophone voices and a wind synthesizer with Mueller’s inventive electric guitar and guitar synthesizer arrangements.
